Arizona hospital infection risk revealed = thousands of cases of illnesses over 2 years, data is not publicly disclosed

[mEDITate-OR:
read how "Rough" Ginger in on "Them"...
not without cause, however.

"Hospital infections kill more people each year than all the car accidents, cases of breast cancer and AIDS combined,"

In AZ....,
there were roughly 1,900 cases in which patients became infected by a particularly aggressive "supergerm" in hospitals.
Supergerms are resistant to powerful drug treatments and are potentially deadly.

Since Arizona began tracking in 2004, 1,100 to 1,700 cases of invasive MRSA have been reported in the state each year.

So, forgive U.S. for asking THIS question:

How much is it costing U.S. economically
to treat all these illnesses/infections.
that are CAUSED by hospitals and doctors offices?

------------------    Digression:
We were asked a couple of years ago:
"If you were really sick, why didn't you go to the hospital?"

Well, that is an interesting story.

Along time ago, in a place very far away, we assisted
in explaining a little Bill that would have made oil spills less likely

On day after shaking hands with The Oil Spill - oh, the companies - Lobbyist, an attorney...
and just after shaking hands with People 2 Puget Sound's Lobbyist, also an attorney.
we caught the afternoon express bus back to Seattle.
With a little pencil eraser sized paper cut on my right thumb.

At 11pm that night, the pain from The Cut was so bad it woke me up...
so we could see the "gangrene" track running up my right arm.
So, we walked to the Harbour View Hospital Emergency Ward - looking for Ellen Pampago..

Entering we were asked if they could help us, and we said: "We need somebody very good with a knife."
The cop at the door looked around the room and said:  "Lots of them here, which one you want?"

When we showed the nurse our cut and gangrene tracks, she immediately took me back to see a Doc.
He, in turn, rushed me into the Emergency Room to cut me open, and start to drain me of blood and money.

Five days into a ten day "tour of duty", we got another cut..., and another infection.

So, we asked the teaching Doc, in front of his 6 students:
"What kind of GD hospital are you running around here?"
"You are impregnating me with antibiotics..., and we get another infection???"
Do we need to tell you which finger we point at him?

Said he:
"Where and who in the Hell do you think you are?
"This is HarbourView..., we have people in here from all over the world, bringing U.S. germs.!"
"Many we have never seen or heard about before. Besides what make you so GD special."

Well, that got my attention.

The Point:
Never, EVER..., under any circumstance shake hands with an attorney. Don't go there.
and
How much is it costing U.S. economically to treat all the illnesses
that are CAUSED by hospitals and doctors offices?
